About John Grogan
Grogan Law, PC was founded as a full service law firm by attorney John Grogan in 2011. The firm’s motto is “small town service backed by big city experience”.
Mr. Grogan received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in 1993 in pre-law/economics and served as an executive intern for the Governor of the State of Michigan from 1991-1993. In 1996, Mr. Grogan received his law degree from the University of Detroit. While at U of D, Mr. Grogan was twice selected a member of the law school’s moot court (oral argument) national competition team, a prestigious honor for a law student.
Following his graduation from law school, Mr. Grogan was employed for several years by a Detroit area insurance defense and medical malpractice defense firm. During this time, he received innumerable hours of litigation, courtroom and trial training. It was also during this period that Mr. Grogan purchased property in northern Michigan, where he had spent his youth with family on Platte Lake.
In 1999, Mr. Grogan achieved his goal of moving north when he was hired by a fledgling business law firm then known as Brandt, Fisher, Alward and Roy. While at the firm, Mr. Grogan received a wide array of experience in representing business and individual clients in commercial, real estate, family and probate matters. In just five years, thanks to great success in these endeavors, Mr. Grogan was elevated to a full equity shareholder of the firm at the young age of 34. He remains the youngest full equity shareholder in the firm’s history.
In 2011, Mr. Grogan amicably parted ways with Brandt, Fisher, and began his new venture at GroganLaw, P.C. in Traverse City. Noting the need to provide a full service law firm in Benzie County, an office was also opened in downtown Beulah. Mr. Grogan continues to provide an exemplary level of service to his business and individual clients from these solid foundations.
Mr. Grogan has served as Chairman of the Board of the Benzie County Chamber of Commerce and has been a member since 1999.
In his spare time, Mr. Grogan enjoys spending time with his wife, Christie and their six children. Whenever time allows, Mr. Grogan can also be found fly fishing and chasing ever elusive trophy trout at his cottage on the Platte River.
